THE CITY OF JOBURG’S PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT MMC MOSHE KOMA: EMS RESPONDS TO INCIDENT AT FORDSBURG SUBSTATION
The City of Johannesburg’s Public Safety Department has been informed of an emergency incident at the Fordsburg Substation, where smoke has been reported. Emergency isolation procedures have been activated as a precautionary safety measure, while emergency teams assess the situation and work to secure the affected area.
The incident is currently affecting electricity supply to the Braamfontein, Mayfair and Orlando Substations, with residents and businesses in the affected areas potentially experiencing service disruptions.
The City’s Emergency Management Services (EMS), together with the relevant technical and emergency response teams, are monitoring the situation and responding accordingly.
The Public Safety Department urges residents to remain calm, exercise caution around the affected area and avoid interfering with emergency operations.
