PKTT CASES BEFORE COURT IN SOUTH AFRICA

Johannesburg The Gauteng Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) will on Monday, 07 September 2026, have two matters before the courts involving alleged theft, fraud, and corruption.

ELECTRICITY THEFT SCANDAL – EIGHT SUSPECTS

Eight suspects will appear in connection with the electricity theft scandal at the Emfuleni Local Municipality.

The eighth suspect was arrested last week and was subsequently linked to the ongoing investigation. The suspects face charges including theft, damage to and theft of critical infrastructure, and money laundering, relating to the alleged illegal electricity connections.

R16 MILLION FLEET TENDER – SUPPLIER ARRESTED

The second matter involves a 40-year-old supplier arrested in connection with a R16 million fleet tender at the Emfuleni Local Municipality.

The municipality procured and paid for 18 vehicles, including municipal trucks, but only seven vehicles were delivered.

The Gauteng PKTT arrested the supplier, who is expected to appear in court on Monday.

The Gauteng PKTT remains committed to investigating complex cases involving the alleged corruption and abuse of public resources and ensuring that those implicated are brought before the courts.

More details will be provided as the matters progress through the courts.
