KING SHAKA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT CAR THEFT CRACKED: 28-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED, TWO STOLEN VEHICLES SEIZED

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has arrested a 28-year-old suspect at a property in Westville on Thursday, 10 September 2026, for possession of suspected stolen property.

Two vehicles, a Toyota and a BMW, were seized at the scene.

The Border Policing Reaction Team, together with detectives attached to King Shaka International Airport (KSIA), followed up on information received following the theft of a motor vehicle at the airport several days ago.

The information led the team to an identified address in Westville, where the suspect was apprehended.

During the operation, the team also recovered another vehicle which was positively linked to a theft case reported at the Midrand Police Station in 2025.

Further investigations revealed that fraudulent documentation was presented to a motor vehicle dealership to purchase the vehicle.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Durban Magistrates’ Court soon.

Investigations remain ongoing to determine whether the suspect may be linked to a car theft syndicate.
