MKP ANNOUNCES CHANGES WITHIN THE PARTY’S NATIONAL LEADERSHIP BY : SIFISO MAHLANGU
The Office of the President of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (“MK Party”) hereby announces changes within the Party’s na onal leadership, effec ve 22 October 2026, subject to the Party’s Cons tu on and applicable internal procedures. Comrade Nomvalo has been relieved of his du es as Secretary-General following concerns rela ng to the councillor selec on process, internal fac onalism, ma ers concerning dual remunera on, delays in campaign materials, changes within the parliamentary caucus and parliamentary administra on that were reportedly not communicated to the President, Natonal Officials and the Presidency Collec ve, as well as the establishment of high-level deployment commi ees without the knowledge of the relevant Party leadership structures.
These matters ers have raised concerns regarding organisatonal coordinaton, internal communication on, accountability and adherence to established Party procedures. The Party acknowledges Comrade Nomvalo’s contribu on to the organisation on and wishes him well in his future endeavours and responsibilities. He is requested to cooperate fully with the relevant structures to ensure a smooth and orderly handover of his duties.
Following this decision, Comrade Lindiwe Mtshali has been appointed Acting Secretary-General. She will work in consultation with the National Chairperson, Comrade Mxolisi Phakathi, to ensure connuity in the coordination on, administration on and organisational affairs of the Party.
Furthermore, Comrade Sifiso Mahlangu, the Party’s National Spokesperson, will assume additional responsibilities associated with the office of the Deputy Secretary General, sharing these functions with Comrade Mtshali. Comrade Mahlangu will retain his position as National Spokesperson.
This interim arrangement is intended to maintain organisational continuity, strengthen coordination and accountability, and ensure the effective execution on of decisions taken by the Party’s authorised leadership structures.
All national, provincial, regional and branch structures are requested to take note of these changes and extend their full cooperation to the officials concerned. All administrative processes, official communication and reporting arrangements must comply with the Party’s Constitution, applicable resolutions and established procedures.
The Party reiterates its commitment to unity, discipline, collective leadership and accountability. All comrades are called upon to respect organisa onal processes, avoid unnecessary divisions and place the interests of the organisation above individual considerations.
The uMkhonto weSizwe Party remains commi ed to strengthening its structures and ensuring the continued effective functioning of its leadership and administration.
The Party comes first. Unity, discipline and accountability remain our collective responsibility.
