ANC CONGRATULATES PRESIDENT LULA DA SILVA ON HIS HISTORIC RE-ELECTION
The African National Congress (ANC) extends its warm congratulations to Comrade Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on his re-election as President of Brazil for a historic fourth term. We congratulate the Workers’ Party and the people of Brazil on this significant milestone, which carries renewed hope for progressive forces across the world. President Lula’s victory resonates beyond Brazil, affirming the continuing importance of solidarity, social justice and the struggle against poverty and inequality.
The ANC welcomes this opportunity to deepen cooperation among progressive forces in advancing the aspirations of working people and building a more equitable international order.
South Africa and Brazil share a strong bilateral and strategic relationship anchored in South-South cooperation and multilateralism, including through BRICS, IBSA, the G77+China and the G20. President Cyril Ramaphosa’s state visit to Brazil in March 2026 further strengthened the political and trade relations between our countries, providing a foundation for deeper cooperation that benefits both peoples.
The ANC reaffirms its commitment to strengthening relations with the Workers’ Party and supporting closer cooperation between South Africa and Brazil. We wish Comrade Lula strength and success as he continues to serve the Brazilian people and contribute to the collective pursuit of a just and peaceful world, underpinned by solidarity, respect for sovereignty and adherence to international law.
