PRESIDENT CYRIL RAMAPHOSA ACCEPTS IMMEDIATE RESIGNATION OF IDAC HEAD ADVOCATE ANDREA JOHNSON

PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA – President Cyril Ramaphosa has, in terms of section 12(8)(a) of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Act of 1998, formally accepted the request by Advocate Andrea Johnson to vacate her position as the head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) with immediate effect, waiving her three-month notice period.
The decision follows a recommendation by Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development Mmamoloko Kubayi, supported by National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) Advocate Andy Mothibi.
Context Behind the Resignation
Advocate Johnson’s departure comes after months of intense public and political scrutiny regarding her leadership at IDAC, particularly surrounding sensitive investigations into senior Crime Intelligence officials and her recent testimony before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
