Government Communications Welcomes Bank of America Ranking affirming South Africa’s Investment Appeal

BY : CHANON LECODEY MERRICKS ONLINE EDITOR KASiBC_AFRiCA

The Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) welcomes the recent ranking by Bank of America placing South Africa at the top of its regional equity market assessment. This recognition represents a strong vote of confidence in South Africa as an attractive and competitive investment destination.

This endorsement by a leading global financial institution reflects the underlying resilience and sophistication of South Africa’s financial system. Despite a challenging global environment, our financial markets continue to demonstrate stability, depth, and strong regulatory oversight, reinforcing South Africa’s position as a trusted hub for investment on the African continent.

This ranking serves as further evidence that the economic reforms undertaken by Government are yielding positive results. Ongoing efforts to stabilise energy supply, improve logistics, and strengthen fiscal management are contributing to renewed investor confidence and improved market performance.

We are also encouraged by the recent investment commitments totalling R889,8 billion announced through the 6th South Africa Investment Conference (SAIC), which signal growing domestic and international confidence in the country’s economic trajectory. These commitments underscore the tangible progress being made to unlock growth and create an enabling environment for investment.

Government calls on investors, both local and international, to take note of these positive developments and to partner with South Africa in driving inclusive economic growth. There are significant opportunities across key sectors of our economy, and we remain committed to ensuring policy certainty, structural reform, and a conducive business environment.

South Africa is open for business, and this latest recognition affirms that the country remains a compelling destination for investment.

Executive Mayor appoints Cllr Flora Monama as MMC for Corporate and Shared Services

BY : CHANON LECODEY MERRICKS ONLINE EDITOR KASiBC_AFRiCA©®™

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Cllr Flora Monama as the Member of the Mayoral Committee responsible for Corporate and Shared Services. Cllr Monama brings more than 30 years of senior public sector experience, spanning human resource management, labour relations, compliance oversight, and organisational administration.

In her current role, she serves as Chairperson of the Section 79 Committee on Utility Services, where she has overseen municipal accountability and key service delivery functions. In this position, she has demonstrated disciplined leadership, strong organisational capability, and a clear focus on ensuring that systems function effectively to support delivery.

The Corporate and Shared Services portfolio is the backbone of the City’s administration. It provides the administrative, human resource, and organisational support required for all departments to function effectively, and requires disciplined leadership, strong systems, and a clear focus on operational efficiency. Cllr Monama’s background positions her well to strengthen these systems and ensure that the City’s internal functions effectively support service delivery across all departments.

I am confident that Cllr Monama will provide stable, capable, and focused leadership in this critical portfolio, strengthening the City’s internal capacity to support service delivery.

NDWEDWE REPARATIONS ANNOUNCEMENT IS A CYNICAL ELECTION STUNT

NDWEDWE REPARATIONS ANNOUNCEMENT IS A CYNICAL ELECTION STUNT

BY : CHANON LECODEY MERRICKS ONLINE EDITOR KASiBC_AFRiCA©®™

The uMkhonto weSizwe Party (“MK Party”) notes President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement today in Ndwedwe regarding TRC housing reparations. While any assistance to apartheid victims is long overdue, this event is a classic ANC election stunt, timed deliberately ahead of the 2026 local government elections in a province the ANC has failed and destabilised.

For 32 years the ANC has dragged its feet on implementing the TRC recommendations.

Victims grew old and died waiting. Now, suddenly, in April 2026, Ramaphosa arrives in Ndwedwe with symbolic cheques and big speeches about reconciliation. This is not genuine remorse or commitment, it is damage control and vote-seeking in KwaZulu- Natal.R40 million for 220 beneficiaries in one area is mere tokenism.

While a small number of verified victims receive assistance, millions of our people, the children and grandchildren of those who suffered, continue to live in shacks, without proper houses, without land, and without dignity. The ANC has completely failed on housing delivery, land reform and broad reparations. Ndwedwe suffered heavily during the apartheid-era violence and the painful conflicts of the late 1980s and early 1990s.

That pain is real and must be acknowledged. But true justice is not delivered through small grants handed out for political theatre. Real reparations require:

• Radical expropriation of land without compensation to restore what was stolen from our people.

• A massive, properly administered reparations programme that benefits entire communities, not just a selected few.

• Serious action on the full TRC recommendations, including accountability for those who committed gross violations.

• An end to the corruption and looting that has robbed South Africans of the resources needed for real restitution.

Ramaphosa speaks about “human dignity” and the Constitution while his government presides over collapsing infrastructure, high unemployment, and persistent poverty in the very communities that sacrificed the most.

The ANC had more than three decades to do the right thing. Instead, they chose elite enrichment and cadre deployment over the people. The people of Ndwedwe and all of South Africa deserve more than late, half-hearted gestures from a dying ANC.

The MK Party remains committed to genuine economic freedom, total land restoration, and real justice for the victims of apartheid and the failures of the post- 1994 dispensation.

The South African Police Service will embark on revised Station Post Requirement (SPR) Public Participation Consultation

BY : CHANON LECODEY MERRICKS ONLINE EDITOR KASiBC_AFRiCA©®™

The South African Police Service will embark on revised Station Post Requirement (SPR) Public Participation Consultation to introduce the Revised THRR Resource Methodology Tool, now renamed the Station Post Requirement (SPR) tool.

Why This Matters:

· Communities can give inputs on the allocation of human resources at their local police stations.
· Ensure policing is effective, equal and responsive to local needs.
· Build trust and collaboration between SAPS and the community.
· Review how police personnel is allocated. · Communities have a voice in policing human resource allocation.
· SAPS to gain valuable input for effective resource deployment.
· Strengthened community-police collaboration.

Public participation will cover an identified sample of 100 police stations, 11 stations in each province (and an extra 1), across South Africa. The sample is inclusive of including the top 30 high-crime contributing stations and both rural, urban/rural, and urban stations to ensure a broad stakeholder engagement.

During public participation, communities will be afforded an opportunity to make representations on the revised station post requirement. These representations will be considered to further enhance the SPR tool to ensure that allocation of human resource meet local policing needs.

This process forms part of the Minister and National Commissioner’s response to ensure that human resource allocation in SAPS aligns with both legal directives and community expectations.

Over the past years, SAPS has made significant strides in recruitment and resource allocation.

The SPR public participation process provides an opportunity for the community to actively understand the type and quantity of personnel deployed in their stations.

This week, the following Gauteng stations will be visited:

08 April 2026 (10:00 to 13: 00) - Sandton

09 April 2026 (10:00 to 13: 00) - Alexandra

09 April 2026 (10:00 to 13: 00) - Hammanskraal

10 April 2026 (10:00 to 13: 00) - Ratanda

10 April 2026 (10:00 to 13: 00) - Dube

THE OFFICIAL HANDOVER AT GAUTENG TREASURY

THE OFFICIAL HANDOVER AT GAUTENG TREASURY

BY : CHANON LECODEY MERRICKS ONLINE EDITOR KASiBC_AFRiCA©®™

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Gauteng notes the official handover between the former MEC of Finance, Mr. Lebohang Maile, and the newly appointed MEC, Commissar Dunga Nkululeko, at the Gauteng Provincial Treasury

The handover meeting between former MEC for Finance, Lebogang Maile, and the newly appointed MEC marks a watershed moment, reflecting institutional maturity and a commitment to a smooth and responsible transition. We extend our sincere appreciation to MEC Maile for facilitating a seamless and dignified handover process.

The EFF welcomes the smooth transition and the introduction of the new MEC to senior management within the department. This process is critical in ensuring continuity, stability, and accountability in the management of public finances in Gauteng.

We note that the engagement included discussions on the final steps to complete comprehensive briefings and introductions, particularly focusing on immediate priority areas that require the attention of the MEC.

This is essential to ensure that there is no disruption in the execution of the department’s responsibilities, especially in a context where the province faces significant fiscal and service delivery challenges

The EFF expects the new MEC to assert decisive political leadership over the Treasury, prioritise the efficient allocation of resources, and strengthen oversight mechanisms to ensure that public funds are directed towards improving the material conditions of the people of Gauteng.

We further emphasise that the Treasury must play a central role in driving a developmental agenda, resisting austerity measures, and ensuring that budgeting processes respond directly to the needs of the working class and the poor

The EFF will continue to exercise robust oversight to ensure that the Gauteng Provincial Treasury works with the rest of the other departments in serving the people of Gauteng with integrity, transparency, and urgency.
