Horror Stab Attack: Volksrust Dad Slapped with 22 Years for Murdering Girlfriend After Secret Affair and Paternity Shockwaves

BREYTEN — The Mpumalanga Division of the High Court, sitting in the rural town of Breyten, has sentenced 41-year-old Sibusiso Bonginkosi Sibiya to an effective 22 years of direct imprisonment for the savage murder of his long-term girlfriend, Amanda Khumalo.
The brutal killing, which took place in the presence of the couple's 14-year-old daughter, was triggered by a toxic mix of jealousy, infidelity accusations, and a sudden DNA bombshell.
From Domestic Dispute to 11 Stab Wounds
According to a formal Section 105A plea and sentencing agreement admitted into the court record, the deadly altercation occurred on 19 February 2023 at Skyville in Volksrust. Sibiya confronted Khumalo after discovering she was involved in a romantic affair with another local man.
Sibiya claimed he was initially attempting to address the deep emotional and psychological toll the affair was taking on their two minor children, alongside the severe humiliation and "loss of dignity" he was suffering across the neighborhood. However, the confrontation took a catastrophic turn when Khumalo suddenly dropped a devastating bombshell, telling Sibiya that he was not the biological father of the children he had raised.
Blinded by sudden rage and emotionally overwhelmed, Sibiya grabbed a nearby knife and began systematically hacking at Khumalo.

The couple’s 14-year-old daughter was forced to watch her father brutally assault her mother.
The terrified child sprinted out of the room to get help from an uncle who lived in a neighboring shack.
