NATJOINTS ASSURES SOUTH AFRICANS OF A SAFE AND SECURE VOTER REGISTRATION WEEKEND

PRETORIAThe National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NATJOINTS) has finalized comprehensive security and operational frameworks to guarantee a peaceful voter registration weekend across South Africa.
The South African Police Service (SAPS), working alongside integrated government entities within NATJOINTS, is fully mobilized to safeguard Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) stations. The collaborative deployment ensures that all eligible citizens can register to vote freely, safely, and without intimidation.
Tactical Deployments and Hotspot Monitoring
Extensive security personnel have been assigned nationwide, focusing heavily on voter registration stations, key transit routes, and historically high-risk hotspots.

The defensive and preventative operational strategy includes:

High-Visibility Policing: Continuous mobile and foot patrols in residential and rural hubs.
Intelligence-Led Operations: Strategic monitoring of threat indicators to neutralize disruptions before they materialize.

Public Order Policing (POP): Specialized crowd management units deployed near volatile zones.

Rapid Response Capabilities: Dedicated teams positioned to react instantly to localized security breaches.

Contingency plans have been activated at all levels, and SAPS will maintain an elevated operational footprint throughout the registration window to continually assess and adapt to the local security climate.

Zero Tolerance for Electoral Disruptions

While NATJOINTS explicitly recognizes the constitutional right to peaceful and lawful assembly, the security cluster issued a stern warning against the infringement of other citizens' democratic rights. No individuals, political factions, or lobby groups will be permitted to close down stations, intimidate the public, or block access to voting districts.

Enforcement Notice: Any criminal acts—including political intimidation, public disorder, malicious property damage, illegal road blockades, or tampering with critical public infrastructure—will be met with immediate, decisive law enforcement action and criminal prosecution.

NATJOINTS urges all communities, civil organizations, and political structures to conduct themselves responsibly and actively contribute to a stable, orderly registration weekend.
