POLOKWANE — The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo has gone on a state of high alert, deploying massive tactical resources across the province to counter a planned wave of protests against foreign nationals scheduled to commence today, Monday, 25 May 2026.

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, issued an uncompromising directive warning organizers and elements within the public that law enforcement will show zero tolerance toward any acts of lawlessness, public intimidation, or malicious damage to property.

Decisive Action Vowed Against Unlawful Gatherings

The planned marches, which have sparked immense tension within local business and residential sectors, are being closely monitored by intelligence structures.

Lieutenant General Hadebe made it explicitly clear that while the right to peaceful protest is protected under the law, any unauthorized gathering that seeks to actively disrupt public order or ignite xenophobic violence will be dismantled immediately.

"Any unauthorised gathering, and or march that seeks to disrupt public order and unlawful action resulting in intimidation, violence or destruction of property will be dealt with decisively without any delay by the police," warned the Provincial Commissioner.
Ensuring Daily Routines Continue Without Fear
The top general moved to reassure Limpopo residents, business owners, and foreign shopkeepers that SAPS operations have been structurally reinforced to guarantee that every member of the community can continue with their daily routines, school commutes, and commercial operations completely free from fear or coercion.

BLOODSHED IN KHAYELITSHA: Western Cape SAPS Mobilises Mass Resources After Six Massacred in Makhaza and Harare Shootings

CAPE TOWN — In a horrifying wave of gun violence that has once again plunged Khayelitsha into mourning, the South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Western Cape has launched a massive manhunt for heavily armed suspects following two separate, deadly shooting incidents that left six men dead within a matter of hours.

The coordinated massacres occurred between the evening of Sunday, 24 May, and the early hours of Monday morning, 25 May 2026, prompting senior provincial police management to flood the affected communities with specialized tactical units.

Timeline of the Carnage: Makhaza and Endlovini

The targeted killings were carried out in separate sectors of the sprawling Khayelitsha township, executing a ruthless dynamic that has left local residents reeling in fear.

Incident 1: The Makhaza Shack Execution
Time & Date: Sunday evening, 24 May 2026, at approximately 19:30.

Location: An informal dwelling situated in Khonkxa Street, Makhaza.

The Victims: Three young men aged between 20 and 24.

The Discovery: Panicked family members inside the vicinity reported hearing a rapid volley of gunshots. Upon rushing to investigate the informal structure, they discovered the three blood-soaked victims already succumbing to multiple high-caliber gunshot wounds.
Incident 2: The Endlovini Tavern Attack
Time & Date: Monday morning, 25 May 2026, at approximately 01:38.
Location: A local shebeen (tavern) in the Endlovini informal settlement, Harare.
The Victims: Three adult males in their thirties.
The Outcome: The three men were targeted inside or directly outside the social venue.

While emergency services managed to evacuate them from the scene, all three tragically succumbed to their severe gunshot injuries upon arrival at a nearby medical facility.
The suspects in both mass shootings managed to slip away into the dark, dense corridors of the informal settlements and remain at large.

SAPS investigators have confirmed that the exact motives behind both multi-murders remain under intense forensic investigation, though community members fear the hallmarks of extortion syndicates or gang-related turf retaliations.

Top Detectives Deployed to the Frontline

In a swift structural response, SAPS management has moved to reassure terrified Khayelitsha residents that the state will use every available resource at its disposal to track, corner, and apprehend the perpetrators.
A elite team of highly experienced detectives attached to the Serious and Violent Crimes Unit has been formally tasked with taking over the dockets.

Their immediate mandate is to pursue all forensic leads, map out ballistic connections, and ensure a watertight case is built before the suspects are brought to court.

TOOK MATTERS INTO THEIR OWN HANDS: Mugwazeni and Akanani Residents Forced to Build Their Own Bridge amid Municipal Indifference

TZANEEN — The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Greater Tzaneen Municipality (GTM) has issued an urgent plea for intervention, calling on local authorities to immediately assist the rural communities of Mugwazeni and Akanani villages in ward five with the construction of a safe, professionally engineered bridge.

Fed up with years of systemic neglect, local residents have resorted to constructing a makeshift river crossing themselves following continued inaction from their ward councillor, the ward committee, and the ANC-led Greater Tzaneen Municipality.

For the latest updates on rural service delivery failures, municipal infrastructure, and community-led initiatives across Limpopo, follow KASIBC_AFRICA at WWW.KASIBC.BLOGSPOT.COM.
Thousands of School Children Placed at Serious Risk

The absence of a reliable river crossing has created a logistical and safety nightmare for the area's youth. Learners from Nkambako village who attend Mugwazeni Secondary School currently have no safe, proper route to class.

Similarly, younger learners from Mugwazeni who attend Nkambako and Akanani Primary Schools face identical, treacherous conditions daily. Mugwazeni village alone has an estimated 2,000 school-going children whose education and safety are actively compromised by this lack of basic infrastructure.

Ordinary residents attempting to travel to work are also forced to navigate unsafe terrain just to secure a livelihood.

Community members revealed that they have repeatedly knocked on the doors of the ANC ward councillor and municipal officials, only for their formal requests to be met with complete indifference and bureaucratic inaction.

The Danger of Unregulated DIY Infrastructure
While the DA highly commended the sheer resilience and initiative shown by the villagers—who have begun crowdfunding and sourcing building materials like cement, bricks, wire, and manual labor from their own homes—the party warned that this setup is deeply concerning.

JOHANNESBURG — The City of Johannesburg’s Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has confirmed that the phase two rehabilitation project on Lilian Ngoyi Street is making steady progress, despite recent inclement weather conditions impacting the construction schedule.
The project is currently in its second and final phase, delivering critical upgrades to the road surface, stormwater infrastructure, and sidewalk extensions between Ntemi Piliso and End Streets.

This phase focuses on the overall enhancement of the remaining 1.8-kilometre stretch of Lilian Ngoyi Street, aligning its layout with the successfully constructed 450-metre section (between Harrison and Wanderers Streets) that was rebuilt following the devastating 2023 gas explosion.

For real-time updates on inner-city infrastructure, detour routes, and urban development, follow KASIBC_AFRICA at WWW.KASIBC.BLOGSPOT.COM
Upgrading Beyond the Asphalt: Modernizing the Inner City

The project scope has evolved significantly to align with the City of Johannesburg’s Inner City Transport Master Plan. Beyond basic road repairs, the final phase introduces major improvements aimed at boosting pedestrian mobility and informal trade:

The establishment of dedicated vendor spaces.
The installation of modern bus stops.
The construction of new public ablution facilities and street furniture.
JRA CEO Mr. Zweli Nyathi highlighted that the scope of work has also been extended to incorporate the replacement of aged and damaged Joburg Water infrastructure. This intervention is designed to prevent future subterranean leakages and enhance the overall functionality of the grid.

To minimize disruptions to local business continuity and daily trade, the JRA is strictly enforcing a phased approach utilizing localized, sectional road closures rather than a blanket shutdown of the entire economic corridor.

Active Construction Zones and Active Road Closures

Sectional closures are currently active on Lilian Ngoyi Street to facilitate the fast-paced installation of new stormwater pipes, a 160 mm collection line, streetlight cabling, stormwater inlets, and manholes.

The closures are currently active between the following intersections:

From Ntemi Piliso Street to Pixley Seme Street.
From Pixley Seme Street to Simmonds Street.
From Simmonds Street to Harrison Street.
From Harrison Street to Loveday Street.
Active construction teams are also on-site from Wanderers Street to Von Wielligh Street, and between Nugget Street and End Street. On-site operations include traffic accommodation management, structural excavations, setting out new stormwater connection lines, and high-pressure jet clearing operations to ensure long-term structural integrity.

Traffic Management and Detour Plan
Motorists are urged to plan their journeys ahead of time and utilize the following alternative routes:

BIODIVERSITY & BIOSECURITY: Minister John Steenhuisen Demands Urgent SA-Botswana Action Plan to Combat Foot and Mouth Disease

BY : CHANON LECODEY MERRICKS ONLINE EDITOR KASiBC_AFRiCA

GABORONE — In an aggressive move to insulate Southern Africa’s agricultural economy, South Africa's Minister of Agriculture, John Steenhuisen, has called for the immediate implementation of a newly endorsed cross-border strategy to combat Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD).

Welcoming the comprehensive 2026–2028 Action Plan between South Africa and Botswana, Steenhuisen emphasized that the regional threat of FMD to livestock production, rural livelihoods, and international agricultural trade means no single country can defeat the virus in isolation.

For the latest updates on agricultural trade, regional biosecurity, and local farming news, follow KASIBC_AFRICA at WWW.KASIBC.BLOGSPOT.COM

The Action Plan was finalized during high-level bilateral discussions at the Sixth Session of the Bi-National Commission (BNC) between South Africa and Botswana, held in Gaborone.

President Cyril Ramaphosa led the South African delegation alongside his Botswana counterpart.

Collaboration on preventing and containing FMD has been elevated to a "High Impact Priority Project" under the BNC framework. Both heads of state directed their respective agricultural ministries to fast-track disease eradication to enhance mutual market access for agricultural products.
