ONLINE EDITOR @KASIBC_AFRICA R1.8 billion Mobile Chemical Toilet Tender The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the City of Ekurhuleni will use the Promotion of Access to Information Act to access the report on the City’s R1.8 billion mobile chemical toilet tender compiled by murdered Divisional Head for Forensic Audit, Mpho Mafole . The DA wrote to Mayor Xhakaza demanding that the report be brought to the October 2025 council meeting in the interest of transparency. This request was blatantly ignored. A City Press investigation over the weekend alluded to interference by a senior politician in the City of Ekurhuleni into police investigations relating to the murder of Mafole. This, coupled with Mayor Xhakaza’s refusal to table the report, casts a dark shadow over the City and raises concerns as to the depth of the rot that has taken root in Ekurhuleni.
