G20 Leaders’ Summit in Gauteng  @KASIBCNEWS Gauteng Provincial Government has welcomed the Cabinet’s decision to host the annual G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg that will take place in November 2025.   This follows a recommendation by an inter-ministerial committee that is responsible for organising the G20 Summit.   South Africa assumes the G20 Presidency from 1 December 2024 to November 2025 The inter-ministerial committee consisted of ministers of Home Affairs, Public Works and Infrastructure, Sports Arts and Culture, Finance and International Relations and Cooperation. Gauteng’s airports and hotels capacity played a major role in being selected as the host province.   The province has three airports, OR Tambo International, Lanseria International and Waterkloof Air Force Base airports.   Premier Panyaza Lesufi welcomed this decision, adding that the 7th Administration aimed to make Gauteng a destination of choice.    “G...

Intangible Heritage Convention (IHC) Budget 2023/2024 @KASBCNEWS The Portfolio Committee met on a virtual platform for the consideration and adoption of the 2023/24 budget vote report (Budget Vote 37) of the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture (DSAC), along with a briefing on the Intangible Heritage Convention (IHC). A series of edits were made to the budget vote report, with the main concerns being around the Auditor-General’s (AG's) recommendations, timeframes to be allocated to recommendations, and a monitoring system for the recommendations implemented. The briefing by the Department on the Intangible Heritage Convention had to do with the ratification of the ICH, and South Africa becoming a member of UNESCO in the context of the ICH.
