World Leaders must act now to tackle Inequality G20

Image
ONLINE EDITOR @KASIBC_AFRICA World Leaders must act now to tackle Inequality G20   Dear Fellow South African,     When South Africa took over the Presidency of the G20 nearly a year ago, we identified ‘ equality ’ as one of the pillars of our term, alongside ‘ solidarity ’ and ‘sustainability’.   We chose to focus on equality because it is essential to a more stable, prosperous and sustainable world. If the G20 is going to live up to its mission to tackle pressing global economic and financial issues, then it needs to significantly and urgently reduce inequality.   Global wealth inequality is stark. The world’s richest 10 percent account for more than half of total global income. These people account for a staggering 74 percent of total global wealth. The human cost of these inequalities is severe; one in four people globally face moderate or severe food insecurity .   These huge disparities are unjust and consign billions of people to poverty...

ONLINE EDITOR @KASIBC_AFRICA The Vandalism of G20 Signage and the Revamped Infrastructure City of Johannesburg  The Gauteng Provincial Government denounces and deeply condemns the malicious and seemingly coordinated acts of vandalism targeting the recently revamped public infrastructure around the City of Johannesburg on the eve of the G20 Leaders’ Summit . These mischievous and cowardly acts of vandalism, which include the destruction of newly installed G20 Summit signage near Nasrec by reported armed assailants and the damage to streetlights and traffic signals along the R55 route , represent a direct assault on our nation and its standing in the world.  This is not petty crime, but it's a deliberate and malicious campaign of sabotage, designed to undermine and tarnish the image of our province and country as we prepare to welcome global leaders. These inexcusable and vindictive actions are aligned and designed to consolidate the work of smear merchants who are promot...

Residents of Mafube Local Municipality are growing increasingly frustrated as they continue to face poor service delivery while municipal employees remain uncertain about their salaries. Basic services such as water, road repairs, and sewage maintenance have deteriorated. Yet, the municipality continues to host mayoral imbizos and Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) events rather than addressing urgent community needs. Acting Municipal Manager, Jamela Selapyane , recently expressed “sincere regret” fo...
