Working Visit to the Russian Federation @KASIBCNEWS

Minister Lamola has concluded a two-day working visit to the Russian Federation. During his visit to Moscow, Minister Lamola co-chaired the 18th session of the Joint Inter-Governmental Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) alongside Mr. Alexander Kozlov, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation.  ITEC is a structured bilateral mechanism aimed at enhancing bilateral trade and economic cooperation between South Africa and the Russian Federation.

The 18th ITEC session facilitated a comprehensive review of bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including:

- Trade and Investment: Strengthening economic partnerships and exploring opportunities for mutual growth.

- Agriculture:Enhancing collaboration in sustainable agricultural practices and food security.

- Education:Expanding academic exchanges and skills development initiatives.

- Digital Technologies and Mass Communication: Advancing innovation and connectivity in the digital era.

- Transport:Promoting infrastructure development and logistical efficiency.

On the margins of the ITEC proceedings, Minister Lamola held a constructive dialogue with Mr. Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. The discussions underscored the enduring diplomatic ties between South Africa and the Russian Federation.

Minister Lamola extended sincere appreciation to the Russian Federation for its unwavering support for South Africa’s G20 Presidency and its advocacy for the reform of the United Nations Security Council to ensure that there is equitable representation of the Global South, including African nations, within multilateral institutions.

In reaffirming South Africa’s principled commitment to global peace and stability, Minister Lamola emphasised the urgent imperative of resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict through inclusive dialogue and diplomacy. He articulated profound concern over the devastating humanitarian consequences of the conflict, including the tragic loss of civilian lives, destruction of critical infrastructure, and broader regional instability.

South Africa reiterates its call for an immediate cessation of hostilities to pave the way for a negotiated settlement. Such a process must be anchored in the principles of international law, including the United Nations Charter, and uphold the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence of all states. South Africa stands ready to support all credible inclusive multilateral efforts aimed at addressing the root causes of conflicts , achieving a just, sustainable, and comprehensive peace.

South Africa participates in several initiatives aimed at bringing about peace between Russia and Ukraine, including the African Peace Initiative, the Ukraine Peace Formula process and the Joint Group of Friends for Peace. South Africa’s approach in these processes are to emphasise peace and the acceleration of humanitarian assistance. In this regard, at the held Ministerial Conference on the Human Dimension of the Ukraine Peace Formula that was held in Montreal, Canada, in October 2024, South Africa agreed to work with Qatar and the Holy See to engage with both parties to the conflict regarding the return of children to Ukraine.

South  Africa remains steadfast in its dedication to fostering international cooperation and peaceful resolution to conflicts.

PASSING OF TWO EDUCATORS @KASIBCNEWS

PASSING OF TWO EDUCATORS @KASIBCNEWS

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) is deeply saddened to confirm the passing of two male educators (aged 26 and 28) from Ennerdale Secondary School in Johannesburg, who had been reported missing over the weekend. Their deaths have now been linked to a fatal motor vehicle accident that took place on Saturday, 12 April 2025.

According to information at our disposal, the motor vehicle accident occurred on Saturday morning on the R28 near the Lenasia turnoff in Jachtfontein. One of the two vehicles that were involved in the incident reportedly had three occupants. Tragically, two of the three occupants - the two educators - were declared deceased on the scene. The circumstances surrounding this incident are currently under investigation by police.

“We wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, as well as to the learners, colleagues, and the broader Ennerdale school community. This is an immense loss to the education sector, and to all who knew and worked with these educators,” said MEC Chiloane.

The GDE has arranged for wellness professionals, including support from the Teddy Bear Clinic, to visit the school and provide trauma counselling and psychosocial support to both staff and learners following the school’s internal communication of the tragic news.

Taxi Rank @KASIBCNEWS

Taxi Rank @KASIBCNEWS

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Moqhaka will be writing to the municipal manager and portfolio director to address the growing crisis of illegal taxi ranks, which are compromising public safety, obstructing main roads, and undermining confidence in the formal transport system.

This intervention follows increasing pressure from the Public Safety Portfolio Committee, which has demanded that the issue be urgently addressed by Provincial and Local Traffic Departments, law enforcement authorities, and taxi associations.

Station Street is currently the only legal taxi rank in the area. However, unregulated and illegal taxi operations have been observed along Oranje, Brand, and Reitz Streets in Kroonstad.

These illegal ranks are being occupied by taxis operating without permits, rendering roads impassable for legitimate users. These areas have also become hotspots for crime.

To restore order, the DA will:

Call on city authorities and the police to intensify action against unauthorised taxi operations and ensure only compliant operators are licensed to operate on the roads.

Support targeted investment in infrastructure for regulated taxi ranks, including designated parking bays, shelters, and facilities that cater to passenger needs.

Launch public awareness campaigns to highlight the dangers of illegal taxis and promote the use of regulated transport services.

Convene a roundtable with stakeholders, including taxi associations, passenger forums, and enforcement agencies, to collectively address the root causes of informal operations and develop sustainable, legal alternatives.

Allowing unlawful taxi ranks to operate on our streets presents a serious threat to public safety and weakens the local transport infrastructure.

Legitimate operators are disadvantaged, roads become congested, and law-abiding citizens are exposed to increased criminal activity.

By taking action now, the DA aims to help maintain order, enhance road safety, and preserve local economic activity through properly managed taxi operations.
We believe in safe, accessible, and efficient public transport for all citizens.

GAUTENG GOVERNMENT FIGHT AGAINST CRIME @KASIBCNEWS

GAUTENG GOVERNMENT FIGHT AGAINST CRIME @KASIBCNEWS

The Gauteng Provincial Government, in partnership with the South African Police Service (SAPS), municipal law enforcement agencies, and local municipalities across the province, has today signed a landmark Safety and Security Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at intensifying the province’s fight against crime, violence and lawlessness.

The agreement was formally signed by political and law enforcement leadership at a public event held in Johannesburg, accompanied by a symbolic joint parade showcasing the unity of Gauteng’s security forces. The MoU represents a strategic step forward in embedding a whole-ofgovernment and whole-of-society approach to building safer, more secure communities across Gauteng.

The MoU outlines a comprehensive five-year framework for intergovernmental cooperation, bringing together SAPS, the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), the Gauteng Department of Community Safety, municipal police departments, district and local municipalities, Community Policing Forums (CPFs), and Gauteng Crime Wardens. Key areas of cooperation include: • Joint law enforcement operations across municipal boundaries • Intelligence sharing and joint training • Combatting crimes such as drug trafficking, cable theft, illegal mining, GBVF, illegal firearms, and parlous buildings • Community-based safety campaigns and capacity building
The agreement establishes eight dedicated workstreams, including intelligence-led operations, e-policing, legal and training frameworks, GBVF interventions, monitoring and evaluation, and coordination of resources and infrastructure.

As a practical demonstration of the MoU in effect, joint law enforcement operations were conducted today in key hotspots, with active participation from SAPS, Metro Police Departments, municipal enforcement units, CPFs, and the Gauteng Crime Wardens. These operations signal a coordinated and visible commitment to reclaiming public spaces and protecting residents.

Premier Panyaza Lesufi praised the signing as a powerful moment of unity and decisive leadership, stating that Gauteng law enforcement agencies were no longer operating in silos. “Today, we are united under one vision and one plan to protect the people of our province. I thank all the municipalities who signed this MoU for abandoning unnecessary bureaucracy and putting the safety of our residents first,” said the Premier Premier Lesufi further emphasised the link between safety and economic development, saying that the economy of Gauteng would not grow, and that job creation would be hampered with high levels of crime. “This signature is a signal that we are taking back our province.

We are pulling all resources so that we can go into Johannesburg, pull it back, and reclaim it. We are liberating its streets for the people of this province,” said Premier Lesufi.

The signing of the agreement forms part of the province’s integrated response to the 13 most pressing challenges identified in the Premier’s State of the Province Address, which include: • Unemployment • Cable theft and critical infrastructure vandalism • Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) • Drug abuse and criminal syndicates • Illegal mining • Water and electricity insecurity • Proliferation of informal settlements • Poor service delivery in hospitals and clinics • Failing infrastructure and deteriorating CBDs • Non-functional traffic lights • Illegal trading and parlous buildings • Crime and lawlessness • Insufficient access to education and schools

The Safety and Security MoU directly addresses these issues through coordinated enforcement, infrastructure protection, and public order restoration initiatives. The MoU is active for a period of five years and will be reviewed annually by all parties to ensure measurable progress, transparency, and responsiveness to emerging safety challenges.

It empowers each participating authority to lead interventions in their areas of jurisdiction, while ensuring collaboration across borders.

The agreement further aligns with the priorities of the Gauteng Growing Together 2030 Plan, reinforcing safety and security as a foundation for inclusive development, mobility, and investment attraction.

R65BILLION ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE @KASIBCNEWS

R65BILLION ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE @KASIBCNEWS

Motorists and passengers across the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) face daily dangers when travelling along the city roads, having to dodge potholes and navigate the disintegrating roads. Despite these challenges, the City has only allocated R449 million to fix roads for the entire metro in the 2024/25 budget. While it will cost R65 Billion to repair the worst 1619km of roads across Ekurhuleni.

This represents 7% of what is needed to repair the worst roads.

This information was revealed in a reply to the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) written questions tabled to the MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Jacob Mamabolo, in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL).

The last assessment of the condition of all roads in the CoE was conducted in 2019, referred to as the “Pavement Management System”. According to the reply, 8,245.53km of roads were assessed for their structural condition and were categorised as follows:

• Very Good 19.54%

• Good 12.97%

• Fair 37.27%

• Poor 9.98%

• Very Poor 20.06%

Since the 2019 assessment, the conditions of the City’s roads have deteriorated considerably, and the cost of repairs would have ballooned.

With the current budget set aside for road maintenance, the City cannot even keep up with repairing potholes and roads.

A DA-led Gauteng Provincial government would immediately assess the maintenance needs of all roads in the province and work with municipalities to ensure that they have sufficient money allocated for maintenance.

Ekurhuleni’s Crime Crisis @KASIBCNEWS

Ekurhuleni’s Crime Crisis @KASIBCNEWS

Today, the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng East officially launched a petition to urge parliamentary intervention into Ekurhuleni’s crime crisis. The petition was made public outside the Primrose Police station, which has the highest murder rate in the metro with a horrific 127 murders per 100 000 residents.

Primrose itself holds an average murder rate three times the average murder rate in Ekurhuleni. With a population of 87 743 residents, this community is serviced by a mere 94 Police Officers and 10 support staff. This station is woefully under resourced. It should come as no surprise that 1638 murders were committed in the City last year.

To put it into perspective, that is one police officer for every 933 residents.

Former Police Minister, Bheki Cele, stated that the United Nations recommends a police-to-population ratio of one officer for every 220 people. He noted that South Africa's ratio was approximately one officer for every 383 citizens. He could not be further from the truth with regards to the Primrose Police station.

If the ratio of 220 residents for one police officer were a reality, the Primrose police station would have 399 police officers.

It is no wonder the residents of Primrose have been left defenceless against murderers with a staff shortfall of 76%.

As horrifying as the murder rate is in Primrose, the issue is similarly bleak across the metro:

Primrose – 127

Germiston – 120

Crystal Park – 86

Reiger Park - 83

Putfontein – 65

Zonkiziswe – 62

Tembisa South – 61

Tokoza - 59

Dawn Park 57

Actonville – 56

The DA’s petition will be taken to Parliament requesting that the Portfolio Committee on Police investigate the horrendous murder rate and the chronic lack of police officers and vehicles in the City.

Soweto Integrated Development Plan ( IDP ) @KASIBCNEWS

Soweto Integrated Development Plan ( IDP )  @KASIBCNEWS

Residents of Soweto gathered at a packed Orlando East Communal Hall on Saturday, 12 April 2025, to share their views on the City’s draft Integrated Development Plan (IDP). The session formed part of the City’s ongoing public participation efforts to engage communities directly in shaping local development priorities.

The day began with visits to stalls hosted by various City entities. These stalls offered residents insights into service delivery initiatives and provided a platform for face-to-face engagements with City officials. Service-related queries were addressed by experts from relevant departments and municipal entities.

The Speaker of Council, Cllr Nobuhle Mthembu, in her opening remarks stressed the importance of public participation in refining the draft IDP, Budget, and proposed tariffs, emphasising that the process empowers communities to influence decisions that affect their lives.

Acting Executive Mayor Cllr Margaret Arnolds presented the draft IDP, highlighting key priorities for Region D. These include infrastructure upgrades in water, sewer, and stormwater systems; public environment improvements; investment in early childhood development facilities; and the establishment of centres to combat gender-based violence.

“This is your plan. Without you, we cannot do anything,” said Cllr Arnolds. “Now is the time to reframe the Joburg story—from what’s broken to what’s becoming. Yes, we face real challenges, but so is our power to fix them—from restoring primary infrastructure to investing in strategic capital projects that will transform high-impact precincts and elevate our inner cities to world-class CBDs.”

She also provided an update on progress made in ongoing capital projects. The road rehabilitation and stormwater infrastructure upgrade in Elias Motsoaledi (Ward 24) is 100% complete, while the construction of social housing in Nancefield (Ward 25) is 89% complete.

Following the presentation, residents engaged in a robust dialogue with City leadership, voicing a wide range of concerns. These included inadequate stormwater drainage, crime, insufficient high mast lighting, limited access to health facilities, poor maintenance of public spaces, challenges with the Extended Social Package (ESP), youth unemployment, and human settlements issues.

Themba Ndlovu from Ward 26 expressed concern about the allocation of RDP houses, stating that some are occupied by foreigners while South Africans remain on the waiting list. Gogo Maria raised a concern about access to Expanded Social Package services, noting that many elderly residents don’t have smartphones and are unable to use digital platforms. A youth leader highlighted the lack of long-term job opportunities for young people, he also asked how local youth would benefit from the upcoming G20 Summit.

In response, the City leadership acknowledged the challenges raised and committed to addressing residents’ concerns as part of the IDP refinement process.

Cllr Arnolds also made a call for civic responsibility, urging residents to pay for municipal services to support sustainable service delivery. “Please make sure you play your part and pay your rates and taxes so that the City can have enough revenue to roll out capital projects in your community.”

ESKOM TENDER RENEWABLE ENERGY @KASIBCNEWS

ESKOM TENDER RENEWABLE ENERGY  @KASIBCNEWS

The Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Dr Dion George, welcomes Eskom’s recent issuance of a tender to establish a separate renewable energy business unit.

This significant step reflects Eskom’s dedication to accelerating renewable energy deployment and supporting South Africa’s transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future, consistent with the nation’s Just Energy Transition (JET) objectives and commitments under the Paris Agreement.

On 31 March 2025, the Minister granted conditional emissions exemptions to Eskom’s coal-fired power stations, underscoring the urgent need for prioritisation of renewable energy integration. The establishment of this independent subsidiary, structured to operate with agility and encourage public-private partnerships, directly addresses those conditions.

It positions Eskom to capitalise on South Africa’s abundant solar and wind resources, enhance competitiveness, and secure green financing, while contributing to improved air quality and reduced carbon emissions.

The Minister acknowledges Eskom’s proactive approach and calls for a transparent, competitive, and inclusive tender process that fosters opportunities for local and international expertise. The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment will closely monitor the initiative’s progress to ensure alignment with South Africa’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the 2050 net-zero emissions target, as well as the stringent conditions imposed on Eskom on 31 March 2025 that support compliance with the Minimum Emissions Standards (MES).

The Minister further encourages Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and the private sector to actively participate, driving innovation and investment to bolster renewable energy capacity.

Through collective effort, South Africa can build a resilient, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable energy sector that upholds the constitutional mandate to protect the health and well-being of all its citizens.

STARTUP20 FOR SOUTH AFRICA’S G20 PRESIDENCY @KASIBCNEWS

STARTUP20 FOR SOUTH AFRICA’S G20 PRESIDENCY @KASIBCNEWS

The Minister of Small Business Development, Ms. Stella Tembisa Ndabeni, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Vuyani Jarana as Chairperson and 22 On Sloane as Secretariat of the Startup20 Engagement Group for South Africa’s G20 Presidency in 2025.

A meeting was convened on the 07th of March 2025 consisting of more than 75 of South Africa’s leading start-up eco-system role-players where the Chairperson and secretariat were introduced.

Mr. Jarana brings a wealth of experience to this crucial role, with more than 25 years of leadership in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector. A seasoned business transformation leader, Mr. Jarana previously served as Group Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Vodacom Business within the Vodacom Group. He also held the role of Chief Executive Officer of South African Airways, where he spearheaded critical restructuring efforts.

Currently, Mr. Jarana is the Founder and CEO of Ilitha Telecommunications, a company dedicated to delivering superfast, affordable broadband to underserved peri-urban and rural communities. He currently serves as Chairperson of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), a key institution driving South Africa’s scientific, industrial, and technological innovation agenda.

Mr. Jarana’s appointment is a timely step as South Africa assumes the G20 Presidency and seeks to elevate Africa’s voice in global economic governance.

South Africa took over the G20 Presidency following the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (18–19 November 2024). As the only African permanent member of the G20, South Africa views the Presidency as a powerful platform to advance the continent’s development priorities. The G20, comprising 19 nations, the European Union, and the African Union, plays a central role in driving multilateral cooperation to boost the global economy, promote sustainable growth, and address shared international challenges.

In this context, the Department of Small Business Development (DSBD) has been entrusted with leading South Africa’s Startup20 Engagement Group, one of the officially recognized G20 Engagement Groups, during its Presidency. Startup20 advocates for startups and MSMEs at the G20 level, developing policy recommendations to advance the global startup ecosystem and foster inclusive innovation.

To support this effort, 22 On Sloane has been appointed as the Country Secretariat for Startup20 during South Africa’s G20 Presidency. 22 On Sloane is Africa’s largest startup campus, playing a pivotal role in advancing the startup and MSME ecosystem across the continent. 22 On Sloane serves as headquarters for the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) Africa, which is represented in 43 African countries, and as the country headquarters of GEN Global which has a presence in 180 countries globally aimed at supporting entrepreneurs to start and scale.

As Secretariat, 22 On Sloane will support Mr Jarana to coordinate and manage all Startup20 activities in South Africa, including stakeholder engagements, task force operations, international collaboration efforts, policy drafting, and logistical delivery of the Startup20 agenda. The organisation will also facilitate multi-stakeholder dialogues and policy consultations to ensure that Africa’s entrepreneurial voice is firmly embedded in the ensuing global conversations.

As Chairperson, Mr. Jarana will lead Startup20’s strategic direction, appoint task force chairs, coordinate high-level meetings and events, and guide the development of the Startup20 Policy Communiqué, which will contribute to the official G20 Leaders’ Declaration.

Minister Ndabeni expressed her full confidence in Mr. Jarana’s leadership, stating: “We are delighted to welcome Mr. Jarana as the Chairperson of the Startup20 Engagement Group. His extensive experience and expertise will be invaluable in driving our efforts to promote entrepreneurship and innovation in Africa.

He is a respected and seasoned business leader whom I am confident will lead the Startup20 Engagement Group with dedication and focus, ensuring that this serves as a legacy for our country and the ecosystem.”

SUSPECTS FOUND WITH STOLEN FOOD @KASIBCNEWS

SUSPECTS FOUND WITH STOLEN FOOD @KASIBCNEWS

Gauteng Education MEC, Mr Matome Chiloane, wishes to commend police for arresting two suspects who were found with stolen school nutrition food from Minerva Secondary School in Alexandra, Johannesburg on Saturday, 12 April 2025.

According to information at our disposal, the two suspects – a 60-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman – were found next to the school with boxes of food supplies which belonged to the school. The stolen food included bulk packs of tinned fish, fresh cream milk and other perishable goods.

The suspects were arrested and charged with possession of suspected stolen property. They are expected to appear before the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 14 April 2025.

The food that was stolen forms part of supplies that are provided to the school through the National School Nutrition Programme (NSNP). This programme provides nutritious meals to learners in primary and secondary schools, aiming to improve learning by addressing malnutrition and hunger.

It must be noted that the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) recently appointed new service providers under the NSNP for the next three years commencing in April 2025. We must acknowledge that, since their appointment, some service providers had delayed with their deliveries to a few schools. However, this was rectified by Friday, 11 April 2025, and we can confirm that all schools received their stock. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience that might have been caused to the affected schools.

“We are concerned by this senseless crime which takes away from the good we are trying to achieve through the School Nutrition Programme and ensuring learners are fed at schools. We vehemently condemn such criminal acts and call upon communities to safeguard the food supplies which are meant to nourish their children. We also urge members of the public to report any crime happening at our schools to the police, and refrain from purchasing any goods stolen from our schools,” said MEC Chiloane.

VAT EN SIT 1% @KASIBCNEWS

VAT EN SIT 1% @KASIBCNEWS

This morning, a negotiating team appointed by the Federal Executive of the Democratic Alliance (DA) met a delegation from the African National Congress (ANC) in Johannesburg. The discussion follows in the wake of the recent dispute over the Fiscal Framework, which contains a 1% VAT increase over two years.

The engagement took place in a constructive atmosphere, with both sides speaking respectfully yet frankly about the need to resolve the impasse over the budget and to enhance cooperation between the two parties in the context of the Government of National Unity (GNU).

The DA reiterated our position that a VAT increase is unaffordable in the absence of meaningful reform that will increase economic growth and create jobs.

The DA is committed to finding solutions in the best interests of the people of South Africa, both in relation to the budget and to strengthen the GNU.

GNU COLLAPSED @KASIBCNEWS

GNU COLLAPSED @KASIBCNEWS

Today, the African National Congress (ANC) negotiating team led by Secretary General, Comrade Fikile Mbalula, held a constructive engagement with the leadership of the Democratic Alliance (DA) as part of ongoing efforts to break the current budget impasse and the reconfiguration of the Government of National Unity (GNU).

The meeting forms part of the ANC’s unwavering commitment to the principles of dialogue, nation-building, and collective leadership in addressing the urgent socio-economic needs of our people. At the centre of these engagements is the future of our country – South Africa – and the responsibility we all carry to ensure it remains united, stable, and focused on development.

The ANC reaffirms its position as the leader of society, guided by the historic mandate it has received to transform South Africa into a non-racial, non-sexist, democratic, and prosperous nation for all who live in it. In all negotiations, the ANC remains rooted in its values and resolutions, and will not compromise on the fundamental goals of social and economic justice, equity, and transformation.

The ANC entered the GNU process with clear intentions: to build a broad-based consensus on rebuilding the country, accelerating service delivery, creating jobs, and tackling inequality. These goals are not negotiable.  South Africa must come first. As leaders, we owe it to the people of this country—black and white, young and old— to rise above narrow political interests and work together in the spirit of unity and shared progress.

The ANC will continue to engage all GNU partners, civil society, and other stakeholders in pursuit of a stable, inclusive, and effective government that places the interests of South Africans at the heart of all its decisions.

ISREAL TREASONOUS VISIT @KASIBCNEWS

ISREAL TREASONOUS VISIT @KASIBCNEWS

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) condemns the disgraceful and treasonous visit by Members of Parliament from the Democratic Alliance (DA), Patriotic Alliance (PA), African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) to the genocidal, apartheid state of Israel.

This so-called “fact-finding mission” is nothing less than a betrayal of the South African people, the Palestinian people, and all oppressed peoples of the world. It is a shameful attempt to legitimise a regime that is currently engaged in one of the most brutal and well-documented genocides of the 21st century — the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza.

That these MPs chose to meet with the Israeli President, Isaac Herzog, a key political figure presiding over this mass slaughter, is a disgusting stain on South Africa’s democracy.

Let us make it clear that this visit was not innocent nor was it private. These individuals travelled to a state our democratic Parliament, through a motion brought by the EFF, has condemned and agreed to sever ties with.

They travelled with diplomatic passports, as representatives of South Africa, to a country that our own government has taken to the International Court of Justice for genocide.

This is not only morally reprehensible, but it is a potential compromise of our national security as we have  already become a target of Isreal’s white supremacist ally, the United States of America under Donald Trump.

The visit was deliberately kept secret, hidden from the public and from Parliament. According to reports, DA MP’s Glynnis Breytenbach who is a member of the Portfolio Committee on Justice, Nicholas Myburgh who is a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Intelligence and Emma Louise Powell who is a member of the Portfolio Committee on International Relations were also part of this delegation.

That individuals occupying such sensitive positions within our state machinery could engage in secret diplomacy with a genocidal regime, without government authorisation or public accountability, is not only unethical but it also borders on espionage.

The DA, PA and ACDP have shown once again that they are agents of white imperialism and global Zionist aggression. They do not speak for the people of South Africa, nor do they represent the values of justice, peace, and solidarity that our antiapartheid struggle stood for. They stand with murderers, with occupiers, with colonisers, and they do so in our name. This visit must be investigated. Parliament must demand full transparency.

Who funded this trip? What was discussed? What intelligence, if any, was shared? And what consequences will follow for these MPs who have undermined the sovereignty of our state and the moral standing of our democracy?

The EFF demands that all Members of Parliament involved in this visit be summoned to appear before the Speaker and the Joint Standing Committee on Ethics; their diplomatic privileges be suspended pending investigation; the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) issue a formal statement disassociating the Republic of South Africa from this rogue delegation; and Parliament reaffirm its commitment to the complete isolation of the apartheid Israeli regime by following through in removing the Israeli embassy from our country and cutting all ties.

The EFF will never stand with genocide, will never stand with apartheid, and will never be silent when our country's name is dragged into complicity with war crimes. From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.

TAXI VIOLENCE GAUTENG @KASIBCNEWS

TAXI VIOLENCE GAUTENG @KASIBCNEWS

The Taxi Industry in Gauteng acknowledges with deep concern the ongoing issues of corruption, violence, and killings that have plagued our sector. The leadership would like to express our deep concern regarding the recent surge in violence and killings that have plagued our communities and our industry in its entirety. We recognize that these challenges have not only affected taxi operators but have also had a devastating impact on the communities we serve and the safety of our passengers.

We wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of those who have fallen victim to these tragic events. We understand that incidents of violence and criminal activity within our industry have led to a tarnished reputation, and we are committed to addressing these issues head-on. It is our duty to ensure that our operations are conducted with integrity and respect for all individuals, and we must work collectively to eradicate any form of corruption that undermines our service.

The ongoing violence not only threatens the safety of our drivers and passengers but also undermines the hard work and dedication of countless individuals who rely on the taxi industry for their livelihoods. We acknowledge that this issue has persisted for far too long, and it is imperative that we take collective action to address the root causes of these conflicts.

We call upon all stakeholders, including government authorities, law enforcement agencies, and community leaders, to work together to foster an environment of peace and security. It is essential that we engage in open dialogues and collaborative efforts to resolve disputes and prevent further loss of life.

The taxi industry is committed to promoting safe and reliable transportation services for our communities. We urge our members to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

We also encourage our community members to support one another during these trying times and to stand against violence in all its forms.

Let us work together to build a brighter, more peaceful future for Gauteng. To this end, the joint meeting amongst others agreed on the following:

Transparency and Accountability: We urge all stakeholders, including government authorities, to implement stricter regulations and oversight to ensure that all taxi operations are conducted fairly and transparently.

Community Engagement: We believe that engaging with our communities is essential in rebuilding trust. We are committed to working with local leaders and residents to foster a safer environment for everyone.

Conflict Resolution Mechanisms: It is crucial to establish effective dispute resolution mechanisms that can address grievances within the industry without resorting to violence. We advocate for dialogue and mediation as the first steps to resolving conflicts.

A Ceasefire has been agreed upon, and both provincial structures will engage all affected associations in the province and report back to the 20-aside meeting with the MEC on the 29 April 2025.

The MEC and the provincial leadership of the Taxi Industry will convene a meeting on Tuesday, 15 April 2025 to attend to the FARADAY and ZONKESIZWE conflict.

A Conflict Committee will be established, convening only in the presence of the MEC.

The committee will consist of:-

5 representatives from Santaco Gauteng

5 representatives from regions under Santaco-

5 representatives from regions under GNTA

5 representatives from GNTA (province)

This totals 20 members who will meet with the MEC.

Decisions made by this committee will be binding, and law enforcement will be involved as necessary.

There will also be permission to intervene in other areas.

All parties are pledging their commitment and support to this agreement.

Support for Law Enforcement: We call on law enforcement agencies to enhance their efforts in combating crime within the taxi industry.

We pledge our cooperation in any initiative aimed at ensuring the safety of our drivers and passengers.

Education and Training: We will invest in training programs for taxi operators and drivers to promote ethical practices, conflict resolution, and customer service, reinforcing the values of professionalism and respect.

The Taxi Industry in Gauteng is committed to being part of the solution. We understand that change will not happen overnight, but we are determined to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to create a safer, more reliable, and more respected taxi service for our communities.

Together, we can address these pressing issues and pave the way for a brighter future for the taxi industry in Gauteng.

The MEC made it clear that the meeting was part of her consultative process with affected and interested stakeholders regarding her intention to implement section 91 on extraordinary measures in areas besieged by fatal violence.

Issued as read, agreed, and signed on behalf of all attendees by the Gauteng Taxi Initiative Secretariat constituted by the Secretary General of Gauteng NTA, the Secretary General of SANATCO Gauteng, and the Chairperson of Gauteng Provincial Regulatory Entity (GPRE).

DONALD TRUMP BAD THINGS @KASIBCNEWS

DONALD TRUMP BAD THINGS @KASIBCNEWS

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has taken note of a social media post by the President of the United States of America (USA) Donald Trump, wherein he indicates his reservations regarding attending the G20 summit in South Africa. In his usual delusional manner, Trump cites land confiscations and genocide in South Africa as his reason and attaches to his ridiculous claim a video of the Commander in Chief and President of the EFF Julius Malema debating the land question in the Parliament of South Africa.

In a clear indication of a man who has lost all sense and touch with reality, Donald Trump has decided to return to his disinformation campaign against South Africa, to distract the public from the mess he has created globally with his uneducated reciprocal tariff system. In a post on his Truth Social platform,

Trump wrote that “How could we be expected to go to South Africa for the very important G20 Meeting when Land Confiscation and Genocide is the primary topic of conversation? They are taking the land of white Farmers and then killing them and their families. The Media refuses to report on this. The United States has held back all contributions to South Africa. Is this where we want to be for the G20? I don’t think so!”

The EFF takes serious exception to Donald Trump’s connection of his false claims of land confiscations and a genocide against white South African families with the President of the EFF, especially since we know that Donald Trump governs through social media.

As the EFF, we would like to tell the “tariff wielding barbarian” that he would be lucky to still be President of the USA by the time the G20 Summit occurs in South Africa, following his recklessness and economic illiteracy which has plunged the US-economy into a recession and launched them into a trade war with China and Europe.

The G20 summit in South Africa should be the least of Donald Trump’s concerns, and he should focus on the allegations against him of manipulating the US stock market by imposing tariffs on numerous countries across the world and then giving trading advice to his billionaire friends before pausing the tariffs for 90-days.

Trump essentially used the US economy as a means to practice insider trading and defraud the American people of billions in their life savings and pensions. He himself has committed an economic genocide on the ordinary American people and the US economy.

As the EFF we condemn Donald Trump for the havoc he has caused to the global economy and view his utterances against South Africa as part of a premeditated strategy to impose sanctions on our country and our political leadership. It is the strategy of imperialism to frame a nation it intends to invade and disrupt politically and economically as a nation that is violating human rights, before making an intervention that disrupts that nations’ prosperity for decades to come.

We have seen this strategy in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Cuba, Venezuela and many other nations. Today, because South Africa and the President of the EFF has correctly condemned the USA’s role in funding the genocide of Palestinian people by Apartheid Israel, Trump has turned his attention to South Africa. It is no coincidence that he uses the images of the President of the EFF to make his claims, because the President of the EFF is at the forefront of demanding the return of the land to the African majority and he has pursued this using constitutional means.

The EFF advises Donald Trump not to use South Africa as a reason to avoid facing his global peers at the G20 Summit in South Africa, since he has embarrassed himself and the United States of America with his poor grasp of the tariff system.

His non-attendance would be an opportunity for the leading nations of the world to consolidate an economic recovery plan that does not rely on the US-dollar and is welcomed, but it is clear that he fears facing his counterparts following his humiliating tariff stunt.
